Seats & read-only users

You pay per editor seat — people who create, edit, approve, or publish.
Read-only client & portal users are free. Sharing a space with an auditor or a client via a read-only portal never inflates your bill.
No user minimum (unlike IT Glue's 5-user minimum) and no onboarding fee (incumbents charge $545–$1,485). You can start at one editor.

The Discovery add-on

An optional Discovery add-on is $8 per managed company per month — network/asset discovery via the Lookout collector. It's optional and separate from the per-seat price.

How entitlements & upgrades work

When you sign in, the cloud panel shows each Pro feature with a live badge — Pro · unlocked or Locked — based on your organization's plan (its entitlements). Locked features show an Upgrade to unlock link to the pricing page. The gated feature groups are the shared org vault (cloud_sync), roles/approval/audit (pr_review), and portals/multi-client (msp).

Starting a plan

Free / local: just open the app — nothing to buy.
Self-host: follow the self-hosting guide — $0, your infrastructure.
Pro: open the app and sign in; use the Upgrade to unlock link or the pricing page to start Pro.
Teams (MSP): use the "Talk to us" path on the pricing page for 10+ seats, custom branding, SCIM, and an SLA.

Billing FAQ

Is there a user minimum? No. Pay per editor seat, starting at one.

Is there an onboarding fee? No. There's nothing to pay to start.

Do read-only users cost anything? No — read-only client and portal users are always free.

Does AI cost extra through Ledger? No. AI is bring-your-own-key — you pay your provider directly; Ledger bills nothing for inference. See AI.

What if I stop paying? Your data is plain Markdown you can export at any time. There's no proprietary lock-in — git clone / export is your exit. See Exporting and leaving.
